Future Science Leaders

Future Science Leaders (FSL), presented by Acuitas Therapeutics, is a 28-week long after-school science enrichment program for teens designed to unleash creative potential and build a life-long network of like-minded peers. We engage curious minds with the nature of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art & design, and math) in weekly sessions led by diverse experts.

Don’t Miss Out on 2025 Applications

Applications for our 2025 - 2026 program year will open in February 2025 for students who will be in Grades 10 or 11 in September 2025. Sign up to be notified when applications open.

"FSL helped jumpstart my passion for engineering, which led me to start my engineering club at school, develop a machine learning algorithm that helps detect skin cancer, and ultimately achieve a $100,000 scholarship."

How Future Science Leaders Works

Discover: the first-year program of Future Science Leaders

Future Science Leaders can be a multi-year program. All prospective students apply to the first-year program called Discover.

Each week of Discover, you will participate in innovative learning and skill-building activities in a wide variety of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts & design, and math) topics led by diverse experts and professionals. The topics covered each week will vary depending on the expert leading the session; some examples include disease modelling with a mathematician, PCR analysis with a geneticist, and machine learning with a quantum physicist. You will learn about career paths into STEAM, create a life-long network of peers, and unleash your creative potential in a supportive environment.

In Discover, you will develop a foundation in these advanced skills useful for university STEAM classes and careers:

  • Collaborating on scientific projects
  • Designing experiments and proposals.
  • Researching reliable information
  • Analyzing results and presenting data
  • Providing constructive peer feedback
  • Thinking critically in a scientific context
  • Communicating experiments through scientific posters. Please check out our students’ work.

After Discover, students can apply to Innovate, the second-year program.
