Corporate Operations is comprised of several functions that support the other departments in Science World. These include Information Technology, Building Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management, and Infrastructure.
IT
The IT team implements, maintains, and improves the critical and non-critical business systems and applications that support the organization. The team works cross-departmentally to leverage technology that optimizes individual and organizational performance. The team also provides direct user support on a day-to-day basis to manage technology issues and opportunities.
Building Engineering
The Building Engineering team is responsible for maintaining, testing, and inspecting all aspects of the building and its systems to ensure the cleanliness, health, and safety of staff and visitors at our unique and iconic dome.
Project Management
The Project Management Office is a new support function that standardizes processes for project management and delivery, aligns business strategy with project planning and execution, efficiently manages shared resources, and more.
The Development team is responsible for providing comprehensive support to all fundraising activities of Science World. This requires fostering and developing key relationships with donors, corporate leaders, volunteers, staff members, all levels of government, and the wider community. The team creates transformational and mutually beneficial relationships with a wide range of partners to bring maximum value to both our partners and Science World in support of our mission-based activities.
The Executive Team, led by the President & CEO, leads the execution of our bold and ambitious strategy guiding us toward our future organizational growth and development by expanding and implementing STEAM-learning throughout the province of BC. Our Purpose at Science World is Science for All.
Exhibits
The Exhibits team provides the interpretive planning, conception, design and development, construction, and maintenance of Science World exhibitions and exhibit components. The team implements the long-term strategic vision in support of Science World's Mission by delivering exceptional exhibit experiences to our community.
Future Science Leaders
The Future Science Leaders (FSL) team manages, develops, implements, and leads the suite of FSL programs for grade 10-12 students. Students participate in innovative learning and skill-building activities as well as learning about cutting-edge research, science communication, academic theory and industry opportunities
Outreach
The Outreach team provides management and support for a variety of Vancouver-based and province-wide outreach programs, both in-person (at schools, community centres) and online. Outreach program initiatives include On the Road, Scientists and Innovators in Schools and Super Science Club.
Performance
The Performance team develops, produces, and implements live presentations informed by best practices in theatre and science communication. They also create online learning events optimized for large audience reach, high production value, and topical learning in STEAM. They develop and coach the science facilitators and outreach staff who deliver these presentations to provide engaging, fun learning experiences.
Public Programs & Engagement
The Public Programs and Engagement team is responsible for cultivating a vibrant community around Science World through envisioning, producing, and evaluating unique and memorable public events, activities, and multi-faceted initiatives. This includes Girls and STEAM programming, Science World panel talks, university partner events, and special programming for Science World After Dark.
STEAM Learning Programs
Experiential Learning Specialists develop, implement, and evaluate onsite and online programming for families, schools, and teachers. This team ensures that our programming reflects best practices in informal education and builds Science World’s connections to other STEAM learning organizations and formal education at all levels. Program initiatives include gallery programming for visitors, field trip and online experiences for schools, educator professional development, and online educational resources.
Visitor Experience
The Visitor Experience team provides our visitors with friendly, fun, awesome, and memorable experiences through exhibit facilitation, school workshops, live science shows and responsive customer service.
Workshop
The Workshop team possesses an array of different trade skills and technical competencies and are knowledgeable and experienced in diverse design and fabrication techniques.
Finance oversees Science World’s financial well-being, by managing cash flows, to ensure the organization achieves its short- and long-term goals. Additionally, it oversees the allocation of resources in the organization to deliver on Science World’s operational and strategic plans.
The Human Resources (HR) department is directly responsible for both strategic and operational work in all aspect of HR management. HR focuses on developing and implementing HR strategies, programs, policies, and practices to support our employees and organizational priorities.
Brand
The Brand department leads Science World’s creative brand strategy. From concept to completion, the team is responsible for conceptualizing and implementing visual solutions that meet our organization’s needs and grow our much-loved brand.
Events Management
The Sales and Events team are responsible for all external and internal facility rental sales while ensuring a high quality of service as a premier venue for events.
Marketing
The Marketing team is responsible for delivering marketing campaigns and content to our current and potential audiences, maximizing audience reach as well as to accelerate brand and charitable awareness.
Science Store
The Science Store plays a key role in expanding visitors unique learning experience by connecting with them with science that they can engage with at home. The team provides excellent visitor experience skills on a variety of topical merchandise, both in person and online.
