Prepare for your Field Trip Workshop

We are so excited to explore some science with your students in our lab workshops! Select your booked workshop below to review the necessary preparations and recommended pre-visit resources / concepts.

A friendly reminder for all workshops:

  • We require teachers and chaperones to remain present during the workshops to assist with material distribution, facilitation, and behaviour management.
  • Please arrive at your workshop location at least 5 minutes prior to your workshop start time to allow enough time for students to get into their required group sizes and get settled in the space for a timely start.

Students will be split into four groups for this workshop. Each group will require an adult chaperone to assist with the activity.

Important location note:

This workshop will take place in our Exploration Lab on Level 1, just behind centre stage. You will meet your facilitator in the hallway just outside the lab.

Suggested prior knowledge:

  • Elements of a story (beginning, middle, end) and main character and problem
  • Forest animals
  • Basic needs of animals and plants
  • Living versus non-living components of the environment

Recommended pre-workshop activities:

  • Read a story together. We recommend Be a Good Ancestor, written by Leona Prince & Gabrielle Prince, illustrated by Carla Joseph, and published by Orca Book Publishers.
  • Go for a walk and explore the biodiversity in your neighbourhood with our Backyard Beings resource activity
