On The Road at Discovery Day 2025

Did you know BC’s minerals and metals power the world around us? From smartphones to electric cars, these vital resources are shaping our future and driving the shift to sustainable energy solutions.

Swing by the AME Discovery Day on January 19th, 2025 at the Vancouver Convention Centre East to learn all about it! Come visit the On The Road Science World team at Discovery Day 2025, hosted by the Association for Mineral Exploration.

This event offers free family fun for all ages!

Discovery Day Interactive Highlights:

  • Science World activation table!
  • Experience 3D mine modeling with VRIFY and 3D metal printing with BCIT’s Teck Copper Innovation Hub.
  • Explore a remote mineral exploration camp with Equity Exploration.
  • Learn what’s inside your electronic devices with the Geological Survey of Canada.
  • Pan for gold with Yukon Dan, a world champion gold panner.
  • See ancient fossils, billion-year-old rocks, and displays from organizations like Britannia Mine Museum, Science World, and Women in Mining BC.
  • Meet mascots Buddy the Miner, Betty the Miner, Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s Spike and the Vancouver Canadians’ Bob the Bear.
  • Enjoy face painting, balloon twisting, hot chocolate, coffee, popcorn, and cotton candy.
  • Activities for younger children include stickers, colouring books, and temporary tattoos.

There's always lots of fun, excitement, and audience interaction with On The Road.  Science World’s fantastic On The Road program brings fun, high-energy live demonstrations and activities to communities all around the province that pique science curiosity, boost science literacy and inspire future science and technology leaders. Learn more about the meaningful impact On The Road makes across BC!
